Thumbless Grip Benching Pressing

This is a graphic demonstration of why you don't want to use a thumbless grip when you bench press.

Always wrap your thumb around the bar. It allows the barbell to sit in your palm. Even if you go too heavy, the weight of the bar will push down, it won't roll out of your hands.

Listen to the man who made that video - he's switched to a proper pronated grip from this thumbless grip.
